The Browns

My cousin Cassie and her husband DJ just had some gorgeous pictures taken with their newest addition, Hunter. Hunter is about 5 or 6 weeks in these pictures. The little girl with them in the grass is DJ’s daughter Reese. So cute! And what a great photographer (although she had good subjects to work with)!

Dear Indianapolis Star

If I wanted a paper on Thursdays, I would have subscribed to the daily Indy Star.  But I only want the paper on Sundays.  While I appreciate the paper on holidays that you guys throw in with my Sunday subscription, I don’t want your Thursday paper that comes with it.  I just want it on Sundays. Basically you leave a paper by my mailbox on Thursdays that gets picked up and immediately recycled.  It’s just a waste.  I understand that the grocery ads are on Thursdays now and those grocery advertisers want their exposure and that people who subscribe Sunday-only usually just want the ads.  I can see your reasoning, but you should make the Thursday only be an opt-in freebie instead of automatically part of the subscription.

My Photos on Flickr

I use Flickr to post and share my photos. I usually update my photos more often than my blog. You can always see my most recent pictures by clicking on “photos” in the navigation bar at the top of my blog. You can click the albums to see certain groups of pictures, like Jimmy and Beth’s Wedding and Mike and Diana’s Wedding and pictures of Mikey’s munchkins.

However if you want to bookmark the direct link to my Flickr photos, here it is:

Also, for you geeky types, you can subscribe to a direct RSS feed of my photos using the link below. Basically, when you click this link, your browser should ask you if you want to subscribe to it, and you should probably say yes. you can do this in Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, Safari, etc.:

Hotel Information for the Wedding

OK everyone, Embassy Suites still hasn’t given me the direct booking link yet, but you can call and book reservations in the hotel block. Prices are $129/King, $149/2 Doubles. It’s a standard Embassy Suites Room. Just call 317-236-1800 and tell them you want to reserve a room in the Guernsey-Leep Wedding Block. I’m assuming you can call 1-800-EMBASSY as well for a toll-free call. I believe the rate also includes breakfast, because I think all Embassy Suites rooms include breakfast now.
We picked the Embassy because it is directly connected to the Indiana Roof Ballroom. Here is the link to the hotel’s site:

Our Registries

Everyone is asking me where we are registered, so I’ll tell ya!

We are registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and at Macy’s.  We are NOT registered for china, instead we opted to register for extra colors of FiestaWare at Macy’s.  Our cookware is at Macy’s, as are some linens and whatnot.  We have kitchen electrics, glasses, linens (can you really have enough white towels?) and silverware at Bed Bath and Beyond.

How Rob and I Met

Rob and I met on January 24, 2004 at The Patio (R.I.P.) in Indianapolis. It was the 21+ CD Release Show for a band I was managing at the time called The Malcontents. They were a ska band from Lafayette and a great group of people! Oh, how idealistic I was even just 3 years ago! Anyway, we briefly were introduced by Matt Chandler formerly of the radio show The Free Zone on 88.7 WICR. He introduced me to his co-host Rob and we all chatted for a minute. Then I told them about the afterparty I was having at my house after the show. That night, as we sat around the dining room table, Rob sat across from me and I thought he was so cute and he had an awesome personality. When he and Matt were leaving, I told Matt to pass along my email to Rob (although earlier I tested his sobriety by making him write his phone number on a Miller High Life box). Apparently, they were talking about it on the way home and they were giving Greg Brenner a lift home, and greg told Rob he should totally email me. (Thanks for the good word, Greg!) Rob emailed me on Monday and we exchanged some emails figuring each other out and arranging our first date for Wednesday, January 28, 2004. He came over and played me some records and we sat up all night talking. The rest is history.

Our Engagement

Rob and I don’t have a traditional engagement story. There was no real big proposal or anything. We were in St. Thomas with my family and we had planned on going into town the next day to do some shopping. We were watching the hotel information channel and they were suggesting good things to buy in St. Thomas- diamonds, tanzanite, jewelry, liquor, black coral sculptures, etc. Somehow we got on the subject of just pricing diamonds the next day and so we went into town and started looking at diamonds. We ended up in the same jewelry store my dad was having my mom pick out jewelry as her 40th anniversary gift. We started looking at diamonds and my dad asked why we were looking at diamonds and I told him it was for an engagement ring. Everyone started crying and we bought a ring! It was January 22, 2006- just two days short of the two-year anniversary of the night I met Rob. Although Rob says we don’t celebrate anniversaries until we get married, because until we get married, we don’t have an anniversary. But I remember the dates of the night we met and the night of our first date.

Rob had actually been planning on proposing on my birthday, but the way it worked out, we decided together to do it and I got to pick out my own ring.

Speaking of my ring, here it is! (Click to see it larger- and pardon the sausage fingers!)
