I know you want to hear more about Japan, and I’ll get back to that soon I promise, but I wanted to pause from travel recap for a minute just to reflect on life in general.
I have been really enjoying being all domestic with Rob. I’ve been cooking most nights and I have the burns and scars to show for it. But it has been good because I really do prefer to eat at home whenever possible. Plus, I’ve been hitting the farmer’s market on Saturdays to get some fresh locally grown produce. There is this one lady who sells blackberries that are really awesome- and I don’t even normally like blackberries.
Then I get some sweet corn from this other booth. We wrap the corn in foil and put them in the oven to cook them. Then we put butter, mayo, lime juice, chili powder, and cotija cheese on them and eat them Mexican street vendor style. We first had corn on the cob like this at Dos Caminos in New York and it was so good. Then we found out that this is a common way for Mexican street vendors to sell it.

Lastly, we’ve been having fun with our cats. I spent most of my 20’s trying to make sure that I didn’t end up a crazy cat lady, but in the end I will still be a crazy cat lady. Our cats have such different personalities. Beans, the boy, is mischievous and sweet and a lover. Nico, the female, is very guarded and doesn’t like a lot of affection from us. They are really fun to have around and I swear they keep us young. Plus, it’s so wonderful to have a little breathing, purring animal next to you that loves you.
Beans is our black cat, and Nico is our white kitty.
