We didn’t know this would be the first wedding we’d be attending this year until about a month ago. We could not be happier that Rob’s grandma found Dean after his Grandpa Bill passed away. Dean is a warm an wonderful man and they are really happy together. Look how giddy Rob’s grandma looks in the pictures. And of course I got some cute pics of the little girls in the family- 2 month old Elizabeth and 27 month old Emma.
We went for dinner at a buffet afterwards and Emma got down to business with the ice cream. Kathie just loves being grandma and Lizzie stares at her intently. Rob got to feed her and she held his finger with quite a bit of strength. Then Auntie K got to hold Lizzie and burp her. On the way out of the Sirloin Stockade, we found the best crane game prize ever. Just what every kid wants- Harry Truman! They also had a janky Itchy and Scratchy toy and buried in the corner was another president- Ulysses S Grant. Then we got home and Nico was sleeping on the pueblo.
This week learned or did a wide variety of different things:
Here’s me taking some Cauliflower Cheese to Rob’s family’s Easter in my Pyrex Pack’n'Go thing.
This is a classic sketch referenced often in the Guernsey-Leep home. I love almost anything that comes off this show. It’s an English show called Goodness Gracious Me and if you have the chance you should check it out sometime!
Adobe just launched an online version of Photoshop that’s free. You go to www.photoshop.com/express and you give them your email and then you can make galleries and use some of the basic Photoshop tools on the web. I played with it for a second, and I don’t know if it’s this computer or my Internet, but it’s kind of slow. It may also be that this is the first launch day, so maybe they’re a little overwhelmed. Nice idea, but right now I find the execution slightly lacking, but I will file it away for when I am on the go.
It’s really only a matter of time until all our programs come through the web. Of that I am sure.
Why do you provide me with a tracking number if you’re not going to update the system with my package’s whereabouts? That’s cool that my package is actually in Indianapolis and scheduled to be delivered today, but I get a little worried when it doesn’t say “Out for Delivery” because two times ago, it never got put on the truck. And when I called and asked about it, you were like, “Oh, they have until 7PM to deliver so just wait it out.” So I did. And my package never came because you figured out they never put it on the truck. You apologized, but it didn’t change the fact that I was right in being concerned.
But last time even though it never said “Out for Delivery”, it still got here in time. So, I don’t know why my packages never say “Out for Delivery” anymore. Are you trying to torture me? Why on earth can’t my tracking number have more info? Isn’t that why people pay you the big bucks over the US Postal Service? I just want my cute stuff from Delight.com! And I hate when you tell me to wait until 7PM to call because I know that it is abnormal for my UPS guy to be in my neighborhood after 4PM.
Sincerely, A frustrated customer
Did you see the Peep Show???

So, on Valentine’s Day Rob and I had dinner at White Castle. Many White Castles around the country actually have table service on Valentine’s Day. You call and make a reservation and they bring you a menu (with a coupon for a free White Castle on a future visit) and a waitress takes your order and brings you your food. They also took pictures of you and they finally posted them online the other day. There was kind of a mix-up over our picture and I used the White Castle contact page to ask where our picture was. Not only did they follow up by phone, but they sent us a thank you letter for our feedback with coupons for free sliders. So, anyway, I think we’re going to do this next year again. It was a fun time for a low-key Valentine’s Day. I highly recommend it if there’s a participating White Castle in your area.
Here’s our picture (heh- it’s like prom).
Here’s a slideshow of my pictures.
I’m gradually greening things around here and something that I have done since we got back from Japan was to get some reusable collapsible bags to replace the plastic ones that are handed out everywhere. Did you know that Americans use 60,000 plastic bags every five seconds?I got a couple good ones when we were in Japan, but when we got back I got a set of Envirosax that I try to keep in the car so that if I run in somewhere I always have a bag along so I’m not toting the plastic. I bought my Envirosax at Delight.com and I love them.
I bought this set:

They also have a couple other styles and I highly recommend checking them out.
I also have a Rootote from Japan (in a cute Paris print) that I love because it folds up and you can use this little clasp and strap to attach it to your purse handle. I don’t know where you’d find one like this in the US, but you can search Ebay for Rootote and you’ll probably come up with some winners.
