Pledge to End Hunger

So, I plan on knocking out a couple blog entries this weekend as long as I’m not getting whatever sickness Rob has acquired since coming home from Chillicothe. I was sick for a week after returning from Vegas (as were a bunch of other people I know all over the country- all the same week). It was weird. I have some pictures and I want to tell you about my tour of Zappo’s.

But before this week ends, I do want to share with you another philanthropic/altruistic endeavor. It’s really simple. It’s the Pledge to End Hunger. You go to the site. You sign your name and for doing that 140 meals are delivered to a food bank in Austin, TX. And it’s kind of a competition between states as well because the top 2 states that lead in pledges, get a truckload of food delivered to them more locally.

So, head over and sign it. You can also put in your ZIP code to find more info about hunger charities local to you so that you can volunteer, and of course you can make a financial donation if you wish. But all you HAVE to do to get some meals delivered is to sign your name to the pledge.

Please Call Your Congress Person

With everything that is going on as the government orchestrates this Wall Street bailout, I urge you to contact your Senator and register your thoughts whatever they may be.  I just called Sen. Evan Bayh’s office and Sen. Richard Lugar’s office asking that the executives being bailed out reduce their compensation for running these failed companies and that the government should be entitled to equity shares in the companies so that if they move on to profit from the bailout, the taxpayers are paid back some when the companies are profitable.

You can tell them whatever you want, but please call them and say something!  Let them know how you feel about this situation. Find your US Senator.

If You Are in South Bend/Michiana and Need Photos

I will be in South Bend for pretty much the rest of the month, as well as several days in October.  If you’d like to book a portrait session (I’m looking at you seniors!), go ahead and use the contact form from the site to arrange a time with me and get more info.  I have some shoots scheduled already, so contact me soon so I can be sure to fit you in!

Also, I will be doing mini-sessions next weekend in the South Bend area.  Perfect for family portraits for your Christmas cards!  I’ll be posting the pricing info and location on those in the next couple days, but again, use that contact form and get on my radar if you’re interested.

Back to packing for me!

Yes, I am alive!

Yeah, I totally know that I neglect this blog, but show me a blog that isn’t a little neglected from time to time. Anyway, I ‘m working on some stuff to revamp this site and doing some behind-the-scenes stuff. Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and let yu know I’m alive and give yu some highlights of what you can expect in the next few weeks…

  • I will tell you all about the awesome stuff I get at our Farmer’s Market.
  • You will some super-cute pictures of a baby who’s probably being born, like, now. (And of course they’ll be cute because all babies are cute!)
  • You will see a better picture of who I am and what I am doing now in the site design and interface.
  • There will be an emo post about the Olympics.
  • I will have pics of my Smart car and our 74 VW Beetle to share.
  • I will finally get around to doing a couple more “Things I am glad I bought” posts. Might be some things to make your life easier.

Anyway, keep checking back or you could always subscribe by email or your favorite RSS reader by clicking here!

Oh, and there will be cute kitty pictures as always. I have a ton of cute ones that I’ll update in my galleries.

I figured I would add a quick pic, so here’s one from my webcam in Photo Booth where I was pretending to fly using my wonderful shawl from my mother-in-law as a cape. And of course I am wearing Hamburglar stripes.

The Secret Workshop- Phoenix

I went to this amazing workshop this past weekend in Phoenix. It was with Cheryl Muhr and Amy Smith. The focus was building a portrait business. I got so many good pictures! If you like this, I am proud to announce that I am officially in business and available for hire! I’ll be updating this site with more information in the next few days! I am just so pumped! I have been tweakin’ all stinkin’ day!

I got to meet so many freakin’ cool photographers! Special shout-outs to my table-mates who were so inspiring to be around! Leah, Ellen, Gustavo, Lori, Sarah, Lindsay- such talented people!

While I work on some paperwork, here are my pics from the workshop!

OK, To Get Serious for a Moment

People are starting Hoovervilles outside LA. I really don’t know what to say or do. It’s really sad.
