Wanna go for a ride or you wanna go for a walk?

This is a classic YouTube favorite of mine (and Rob’s). We ask each other questions in this voice all the time while tilting our heads.

I’m off to meet Rob on an independent movie shoot. I’m going to do some photos from the set. It’s super hot in Indy today, and they’re shooting outside.

Train Station Choreography

So, last night I was super tired and IU just didn’t have a lot in me after doing the online tech support for my pops. Not his fault or anything, I was just tired. So anyway, last night Jen came over and I scanned some pictures for her to put on Facebook. Now, I’m inspired to do some of my own. Perhaps this weekend. Rob has a show tomorrow at Zanies with Yuki. Apparently there are 4 bands playing (really?). So tonight I sense some laying low even though it’s First Friday. I kind of want to go out, but I also want to stay home and plow through some stuff. I have a feeling with the temperature drop, I’ll end up choosing the stay in option. Because I am lame like that.

Today on Twitter Rachel Maddow shared this Dutch train station video. It seems to be inspired by one from T-Mobile last year in England. After watching both of these, I get teary that all those people collaborated to bring some random joy (and probably pimp some products, but whatever). Enjoy them!

You Thought It Was April Fool’s!

So, I said I was going to try to blog each day in April, and well, here I am. I really wasn’t lying about that. There’s a lot of stuff that happens in my life or that I see that probably doesn’t deserve a full blog post, which is where Facebook and Twitter fit in.  Anyway, Rob always says I should do a food blog. I don’t know about that, but I do have strong opinions about food things. I wish I didn’t, but I do.

This March I was extremely disappointed for a few days when I kept trying to score a Shamrock Shake.  I tweeted all about it. I know I’m not the only person that thinks they are an awesome seasonal treat. Plus, Rob and/or I have been sick for the last month on and off, so there was only like a 3-day window where I actually wanted to eat dairy and wouldn’t be concerned with producing extra mucus. My throat was still sore and the Shamrock Shake was ideal! So, what gives with the Indianapolis McDonald’s not carrying them?  Is this one of those regional things? Sometimes, Rob makes me feel like I come from a foreign country, even though I’m just from 3 hours north. It probably doesn’t help that I consider anything south of Kokomo to be southern Indiana.

I went to 3 different McDonald’s in 2 days until I gave up after seeing someone’s Facebook status that the Indy region franchisees voted not to participate. Boo! Apparently though, if I had trekked over to the 71st and Michigan Rd. McDonald’s I could have had one. How did I find that out, you ask? Well, der, I just went to ShamrockShake.com (web 2.0 at its finest) and you can input your location to find Shamrock Shakes. Obviously, at most McD’s Shamrock Shakes are gone by the end of March- if not gone within days after St. Patrick’s Day- so you’ll have to wait until next year. Yeah, too bad I just found that site tonight.

Apparently, I’ll have to hang on he Northwest side next year or make the trek up to the Bend where Shamrock Shakes are abundant. Luckily, I have many reasons to go up there! Anyway, this concludes today’s episode of This Is Why I’m Fat- I mean Kristen Blogs for 30 Days: Maybe Not Quality, but at least you’ll get one.

More Stuff I Learned

This week I had quite a few observations and learned some random things:

  1. I realized that if I can avoid buying the display pair of shoes at DSW or Marshall’s or wherever, I need to.  I bought a super comfy pair of Adidas shoes last week and this week upon wearing them, I realized that the right one is considerably looser than the left, probably from people trying them on at DSW.  But the were the only pair anywhere close to my size, so there is that.  But it’s kind of disconcerting to walk around with one shoe that’s almost falling off.
  2. We went to First Friday in Fountain Square last night.  Saw our friends the Cocaine Wolves and saw some art.  Kind of meh on the art we saw.  A couple gems, but on the whole pretty mediocre.  Perhaps Mass Ave had the better art scene.
  3. I walked around my property and took some pictures of the first signs of spring.  Plus, I wanted to document how shabby my property looks, so I can measure the impact of the spring cleanup.  Those pictures will come in a future post.
  4. The Pioneer Woman posted a new chapter in her Black Heels to Tractor Wheels love story.  Seriously, if you haven’t read these, you should start from the beginning.  Here’s a link to all of the posts by chapter form the beginning.
  5. Just think, air travel used to be a luxury.  I can’t believe 3 airlines went out of business this week.  I am curious to see what will happen with the Open Skies agreement and what will happen when some European airlines can run some flights in the USA.
  6. What April Fool’s Story did I fall for? Annie Leibovitz moves her photos to Flickr for $25 mil
  7. I ended up at the Melody Inn during the Ron Paul info night. A guy sang a song called “Big Bad Ron”.  We made up Ron Paul lyrics to his other songs.

We’re going to Chicago on Monday.  I am going to a photo workshop, and Rob will be doing some record shopping (he has been dying to do some record shopping since we got the bookcases out in and he purged some records as he was filling it).  He’s going for quality over quantity.

And I will now leave you with what has to be one of the most ridiculous campaign videos ever.  Watch it all the way through:

    All-Star Charity Singles

Here’s a link to an Onion AV Club Round-Up of a bunch of All-Star Charity Singles.  Some you may remember, some you may not. I didn’t remember the Hearin’ Aid one with all the metal dudes. The best thing about “Stars” is that they have lower-third graphics that tell you who you are watching sing or play the solos. That’s brilliant considering on a lot of these I watch and I’m like, “Who is that?” because some of the “stars” recruited to sing on these tracks are flash-in-the-pan, hot-at-the-moment peeps.

    Onion AV Club Benefits Round-Up

And here’s one that I participated in- Hands Across America.  Boy, everyone participated- Mickey Mouse, C3PO, Andy Warhol (!), Oprah before she was OPRAH…

And here’s the Sean Lennon/Peace Choir 1991 “Give Peace a Chance” from when we went to war in Iraq the first time. Funny how a lot of the stuff people are “talkin’ bout” are things people are still talkin’ bout. It’s kind of weird. And kind of sad. You’d think we would have come further in 17 years.

    Fly like an eagle…

See how I’m spacing these commercials out so you have a little something to look forward to each day?

    Where Da Gold At?

I will spend St. Patty’s Day purging my closet I think.  I need to strike while the iron is hot and get rid of some of this stuff while I don’t feel attached to it. Usually Mary and I hit the Claddagh starting at like 10:30 and then drink all day, but maybe next year. For St. Patty’s Day, I thought I would share a classic internet phenomenon- the leprechaun in Mobile, AL.  I will spare you and only share one remix though.

    I don’t want to make any money…

I was first exposed to Don when I got to Bloomington for my freshman year of college.  He’s a little creepy, but his commercials are classics. Especially this one for obvious reasons when you watch it.

    Bad jingles are everywhere

But I guess they’re not that bad if they get stuck in your head easy. LOL.

This is really good…even if it’s from Perez

Make sure you’re watching at about 20-30 secs in.  And the whole thing is pretty darn good. But 1:50-2:10-ish is pretty good too. Probably one of the better acts I’ve seen:
